I first came across the idea of placenta encapsulation while researching my childbirth options. At the time, I shuffled the idea out of my mind since I was quite honestly squeamish about the idea of ingesting my own placenta. But, after I had my daughter and became a doula a new company popped up on the birthing radar called Placenta Benefits.

What they promoted was so simple, a way to gain all of the benefits of placenta ingestion, without any of the yucky issues of preparing it. Now that I have done my training, I am offering this service to not only my existing clients, but anyone in the Central Iowa area. Please read below to get some more information on the benefits, including a few excerpts from the Placenta Benefits pages. Thanks!

Why ingest my placenta?

The placenta contains your own natural hormones and is perfectly made for you, by you. Experts agree that the placenta retains hormones. Reintroducing them to your system is believed to ease postpartum and menopausal hormonal fluctuations.

Your baby's placenta, contained in capsule form, is believed to:
  • contain your own natural hormones
  • be perfectly made for you
  • balance your system
  • replenish depleted iron
  • give you more energy
  • lessen bleeding postnatally
  • been shown to increase milk production
  • help you have a happier postpartum period
  • hasten return of uterus to pre-pregnancy state
  • be helpful during menopause

There are many ways to prepare your placenta for ingestion. There are various recipes available for smoothies, and some women simply eat it raw. The only issue with these methods is that you have a very small window of time to reap the benefits. In order to get the full benefits, the best way to ingest the placenta is to encapsulate it. The placenta can be dried, ground, and encapsulated. The capsules can then be taken daily for a number of weeks. This method allows you to enjoy the healthful benefits of placenta quickly, with the utmost discretion and with very little effort, and the capsules will last indefinitely (for years).

You only get one placenta - encapsulation allows you to get the most out of this rare and precious gift.

Placenta Encapsulation Services

PBi-certified Placenta Encapsulation Specialists offer services that are customized for your unique lifestyle and needs. As you rest and bond with your newborn baby, I will come to your home to began the encapsulation process. The entire process is finished in about 24 hours, including preparation, drying, and encapsulating.

I really like to set up an initial consultation before the birth of the baby so that any special wishes can be discussed at that time, and you can get a chance to ask me any questions you might have. This doesn't need to be early in the pregnancy. Please use my contact me page to set up a free sit down with to discuss encapsulation, or if you would like to visit my profile and contact page on PBi's website, it's here.

The full encapsulation process is $250.

You can also add on a Placenta Essence for an additional $40. This is essentially like having a homeopathic placenta remedy. This takes a very small piece of the placenta, and can be kept indefinitely. It can be taken during times of stress, but is also a great blood builder. Please let me know ahead of time if this is something you are interested in doing, it requires a little bit more equipment!

I offer discounts, and sliding scale Also I give a discount if you combine my services, so my doula clients will receive a discount. I also offer these as gifts, so if you are interested in buying this service as a baby shower gift, please contact me and we can set that up. I can take Cash, Check, Money Order and Credit Cards, and would be happy to work out a payment plan that would be completed by the date of encapsulation. I am also more than happy to work in trade!
